Meet the Founder |
Ashley, a native of rural Stokes County, North Carolina, is currently a student at North Carolina State University. At NC State, Ashley is double majoring in Secondary Mathematics Education and Mathematics. She has hopes to become a high school math teacher upon graduation. Ashley was fortunate enough to receive the Park Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship to NC State which includes a leadership development program. While at school Ashley has spent her time volunteering in local schools, serving as president of the student chapter of the North Carolina Council for Teachers of Mathematics, volunteering to present information on the Park Scholarship and the College of Education, and dancing with a hip hop crew. Ashley also began speaking about rural education 2 years ago out of concern for her students and a calling to help. During her three years at NC State, she and her family have been discussing the issues facing rural North Carolina. Out of those conversations, a desire to elevate rural education, and a calling to help each student reach their full potential, Meet My Future was born. |
